Masud has been away from Bangladesh for some thirty years. His father is dying and he goes back to say say goodbye.

Shauzia the companion novel to Parvana and Parvana's journey. Shauzia and Parvana met escaping Afghanistan and now Shauzia has made it to the refugee camp in Pakistan. Shauzia and Parvana always said they would catch up again on the top of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Shauzia is determined to get to Paris and she strives to find paid employment.
